This is the 22 LR ammo you want for whacking targets, be they made out of paper, aluminum, plastic or steel. Each round in this bulk pack of 500 is armed with a 40 grain bullet – the standard weight, as far as the 22 is concerned – which is plated with a very thin layer of copper. That copper is going to help prevent lead from accumulating inside of your firearm’s barrel to keep it more accurate, and it helps to keep an AR-15’s gas port a little cleaner as well. The bullet’s solid point inhibits the terminal expansion you would want for varmint hunting, though a bullet with so smooth-feeding a profile can still ground rodents quite effectively.
