For a 230 grain projectile this achieves good velocity: 900 feet per second, leading to better penetration and great expansion. The 414 ft. lbs. of energy is adequate for the round and offers a very heavy hitting projectile for defensive use. The controlled expansion of the Hydra-Shok round reliably performs in laboratory and real world scenarios.
