Starting as a “From Scratch” buildout of a highly engineered cartridge meant to replace the 9mm for specific law enforcement and other highly specialized purposes, the 5.7x28mm turned out to be one of the more interesting development stories in the modern era in ammunition. With the ongoing press about the cartridge and the lower recoil (30% less than a 9mm), civilian shooters managed to overcome the high price tag caused by relative lack of production volume to continue to adopt this unique round for use in a handful of different use cases.
The secret service adopted the cartridge and it’s related FN produced firearms as duty weapons and solidified the cartridge and the reasons it was produced in history.
This civilian lead free version offers a copper clad aluminum projectile at 28 grains.
