This is a powerful shell. It is loaded with nine pellets of lead 00 buckshot, coming out to about 1.1 ounces total. At 1,325 fps, the shell’s muzzle velocity is high enough to give all nine pellets a combined muzzle energy of nearly 1,900 ft lbs – about seven times the minimum amount of energy recommended for defensive applications. Remington makes their 0.33” diameter pellets out of extra hard lead. That prevents deformation to promote tighter pattern density, and also ensures deeper penetration of the target.

This full-recoil shotshell is loaded with fast-burning propellant to minimize fouling and conserve functionality. Its high-brass tubes are fluted for added strength, and have tight six-point crimps that facilitate handloading. Good for hunting, too!
