This shell’s heavier shot column comprises 170 individual pellets, which are propelled to 1,220 fps muzzle velocity by a low-fouling charge of fast-burning powder. The #5 shot pellets are larger in diameter as far as birdshot usually goes, which enables them to retain more momentum so they can penetrate deeply and transfer more energy to the target.
