When Fiocchi set out to make a perfect 12 Gauge slug for match shooting, they consulted with none other than Jerry Miculek – probably the greatest living competition shooter, who can put 23 shotgun rounds in a target in 3.73 seconds. What you’re seeing here is the product of Fiocchi’s and Mr. Miculek’s combined expertise.

This 12 Gauge shell’s rifled slug weighs in at 7/8 ounces, and thanks to its clear plastic hull you can see that the slug is coated in red teflon. That protective layer helps to prevent smoke from veiling a steel target while you are shooting it. This shell’s hard, radiused crimp makes it easier to load quickly into a shotgun, and its rifled slug is optimized to perform correctly in either a smooth or rifled bore.

Here’s the big question: Can you use this shotgun ammo for home defense as well? You betcha. Its slug is loaded to a supersonic muzzle velocity of 1,300 fps, which means it strikes its target with well over 1,000 ft lbs of energy at close to medium range. That’s more powerful than even a 44 Magnum!
