This round sports a real slugger of a bullet: the 38 grain copper-plated hollow point. Its thin copper layer serves as a buffer between the lead bullet and the barrel, which slows down the rate of bore fouling somewhat. You can put that accuracy preservation to good use by shooting a squirrel or other small game beast. The hollow point will open up during high velocity penetration to put a wider, deadlier hole through its hapless target.

A high muzzle velocity is one of this round’s strong suits. After emerging at a rate of 1,280 fps, the bullet follows a flat path that delivers 86 ft lbs of kinetic energy to a target at 100 yards. That’s a big impact, relatively speaking!
