How is this ammo optimized for an SBR? It’s all about the propellant, which is formulated to burn at an extra fast rate without sacrificing accuracy or generating excessive recoil. Because the propellant combusts completely before the bullet exits a barrel as short as 10.5” in length, it virtually eliminates bright muzzle flash that could blind you when you fire in the dark. The propellant greatly reduces fouling, and also enhances a suppressor’s efficacy while simultaneously keeping the device significantly cooler.
Hornady’s InterLock bullet is a fine piece of engineering in its own right. Its tapered and grooved jacket helps the soft point expand at a fast yet uniform rate to maximize energy transfer to the threat. And because the InterLock’s jacket is embedded within its lead core in two places, the bullet consistently retains sufficient mass and momentum to conquer barriers and subsequently penetrate to an effective depth within the threat.
This ammo’s terminal ballistics enable an SBR to fully satisfy the FBI’s test protocol for defensive shooting. It features all of Hornady’s premium supporting components including reloadable brass cases, and it’s American-made through and through.
