This cartridge’s bullet is on the lighter side at 130 grains. It hasn’t got the momentum it would need to penetrate very deeply, but that’s not an issue when you’re after smaller game. The light bullet does benefit accuracy by supplying a very flat trajectory. Once it achieves its advertised muzzle velocity of 3,050 fps, the 0.263 G1 ballistic coefficient projectile will reach 300 yards without having to rise higher than 6.3” on its way there.
The bullet itself is a simple jacketed hollow point. It operates on the same principle as the kind of JHP you’d find on a handgun load: once its nose cavity fills with pressurized soft tissue, the JHP rapidly expands to deal massive trauma to the quarry.
This Minnesota-made ammo features smooth-cycling and reloadable brass cases, as well as clean-burning Boxer primers and propellant.
