Let’s address the elephant in the room: With the exception of some freakishly powerful handloads, all 45 ACP cartridges are subsonic. That said, Hornady’s Subsonic edition 45 ACP ammunition does deliver the goods by way of smooth cycling, accurate ballistics and effective terminal performance!

This suppressor-safe cartridge is loaded with Hornady’s own 230 grain eXtreme Terminal Performance (XTP) jacketed hollow point bullet. It’s got a swaged lead core and drawn gilding metal jacket – two rotational stability enhancing features which promote predictable trajectories.

The XTP’s notched jacket peels back in uniform segments during penetration to maximize energy transferral and wound cavity diameter. The jacket additionally thickens toward its base, another feature which produces uniform diameter mushrooming. The XTP’s jacket also protects its nose cavity to ward off feeding jams!

This Nebraska-made ammo is loaded with low-flash powder. That can be a godsend if you ever have to fire in the dark, as the muzzle flash will be too dim to temporarily blind you.
