This round’s total metal jacket (aka total metal case) projectile features a lead core and a copper-alloy jacket. It performs identically to a standard full metal jacket but with one important difference. Unlike an FMJ, the TMJ’s core is totally surrounded by its jacket, including its base. The TMJ therefore prohibits the heat of ignition from burning any lead off of its core. Your revolver or lever-action rifle will remain more accurate by forgoing lead fouling of the barrel. Perhaps more importantly, your lungs won’t be exposed to lead gas. That’s of especial benefit if you spend long sessions at an indoor range.
