This is a moderately heavy load for the #8 shot size with the 1 1/8 ounce wad cup as well as the speedy 1145 feet per second velocity out of the cylinder bore. This load is made specifically for clays work, but it will function extremely well for small game in a pinch as well. It’s a very good load to have a few cases of on the shelf because of its versatility and the overall low cost of entry to begin shooting it. It is among the best priced shotgun ammunition that still has top tier reliability of any available. And there are a lot of 12 gauge shells out there that price themselves low on the market. In almost every case, you can easily make the argument in favor of the Federal Target loads for just about any commodity shooting need for your 12 gauge in 2 ¾” chambering.

The velocity will get you out there faster, and the density of lead on target with the good combination of #8 shot and the extra 1/8 ounce of payload means you are going to easily hit targets you were behind before.

It is reloadable, but it may not be the best choice, as the low base can be finicky at times, and there is not a real catalyst to do the reloading of such an inexpensive shell.
