This 38 Special round by Magtech features a 158 grain semi-jacketed soft point bullet. That bullet type is an interesting middle ground, a sort of compromise that offers the impact energy and penetration of a good old round nose bullet, but with the expanding damage like that caused by a hollow point. The bullet’s semi-jacket supports penetration and controls expansion, with the nice added feature of preserving your bore against lead fouling as well as facilitating feeding. The bullet also offers a flat nose, which is stellar for target shooting as it will punch crisp holes through paper that you can easily see downrange. It’s that characteristic that tells you how best to implement this cartridge: target shooting, range fun, matches, and maybe a little hunting if you can get the time.
This cartridge additionally offers a non-corrosive Boxer primed brass casing, so you’ll be able to make a handloading project of it once you’ve finished the box.
