Sellier & Bellot is a Czech ammunition company originally
founded in 1825 by French merchants Louis Sellier and Jean Bellot to produce
percussion caps for the military of the Austrian Empire. After World War I and
the dissolution of its primary customer, Sellier & Bellot, or S&B,
began exporting cartridges around the world to countries as far as South
America and Asia. S&B also supplied police and military forces of the newly
created country of Czechoslovakia.

During the Warsaw Pact era, the company continued
production, although under the control and ownership of the Soviet-backed
Czechoslovak government. With the end of the Cold War, S&B returned to the
private sector and rebuilt its export business. Today, thanks to growth spurred
by the high quality and moderate price of its products, S&B serves 70
countries and sells over two-thirds of its production abroad.
