Fiocchi Golden Pheasant 12 Gauge ammunition isn’t designed for hunting actual golden pheasant, a bird native to China that has a shock of yellow feathers on its head which gives it an uncanny resemblance to a certain U.S. president. It’s meant for hunting normal pheasant, as well as any other larger upland game you happen across.

This is a 3” shell with a big 1-3/4 ounce payload of shot. It’s #5 lead shot, although the pellets are shiny and metallic in appearance. That’s because they are plated with nickel. Its rigid metal shell helps preserve the pellet’s sphericity so it can pattern more tightly, and it also promotes deeper penetration into the quarry.

This shell’s 1,200 fps muzzle velocity isn’t outstandingly fast, but its heavier, higher-momentum shot pellets do a great job delivering the deadly punch to birds.
