This 6.5 PRC cartridge is from Hornady’s Precision Hunter line of ammunition, and truly lives up to its brand’s name courtesy of its 143 grain ELD-X projectile. The ELD-X’s accuracy comes from myriad features including its secant ogive profile, ballistic coefficient enhancing boat tail design, and essentially perfectly concentric AMP jacket. This bullet is also capped with a Heat Shield tip that won’t be warped by the friction caused by air resistance.

The “X” in this bullet’s name stands for “eXpanding.” It is able to do that greatly even at lower velocities, typically those achieved over 400 yards, when its polymer tip drives backward to initiate expansion with up to 90 percent weight retention. Even at closer distances this bullet is able to deliver devastating terminal performance courtesy of its InterLock ring which ensures weight retention of no less than 50 percent.
