Don’t be misguided by the big “Subsonic” on this Nebraska-made 45 ACP ammo’s box. Unless it’s loaded to some freakishly high chamber pressure, any 45 ACP 230 grain load is going to produce a subsonic muzzle velocity. As such this self-defense ammo ought to work marvelously in any .45 cal semi-auto!

This round’s jacketed hollow point bullet is Hornady’s highly acclaimed eXtreme Terminal Performance. What sets the XTP apart is its drawn metal jacket. Because it isn’t plated, the XTP’s jacket starts out thick at its base and grows narrower the closer it gets to the tip. The jacket is strategically weakened even further by the notches stamped around its rim. Even if the XTP encounters the threat at a relatively low velocity, it’s still going to produce the terminal expansion which neutralizes a threat more effectively.

The XTP’s fully jacketed rim complements this ammo’s high-quality brass cases to promote surer feeding in all makes and models of firearms. Hornady chose flash-reduced propellant for this ammo as well, so your eyesight won’t get shifted out of its acclimation to night conditions by bright muzzle flash. A great choice for suppressor use! (925 fps muzzle velocity recorded with 5” barrel.)
