These match grade .308 Winchester rounds from Fiocchi’s “Extrema” line are perfect for competitive use as well as for building a ranging table for your precision rifle. Each of these top tier cartridges houses a Sierra MatchKing (SMK) projectile within a reloadable brass casing that is equipped with a non-corrosive Boxer primer. The MatchKing design comprises an elongated boat tail rear, hollow frontal cavity, and precisely measured diameter and core composition; these features contribute to world-renown, award-winning accuracy. Each .308 caliber bullet weighs in at 168 grains with a maximum verified variance of .3 grains. This a common weight for the cartridge and offers a flat trajectory that matches many game, practice, and surplus rounds.
While Sierra’s MatchKing profile possesses a hollow point and is known to fragment with devastating reliability, it is not recommended for hunting use due to its heavy destruction of edible meat. That being considered, the SMK has been proven in combat service by United States military snipers and designated riflemen in terms of exactitude and terminal ballistics. Fiocchi, an Italian manufacturer, produces most of their U.S. sold ammo at their Missouri plant using locally sourced components of the highest quality. Their Extrema brand undergoes heavier inspection standards in order to ensure consistent case thickness and powder volumes.
