The 300 AAC Blackout is famous for its big, heavy bullets and subsonic muzzle velocities. But this 300 Blackout ammunition by Winchester doesn’t take that approach at all. This round’s 125 grain bullet achieves a cracking muzzle velocity of 2,185 fps so it can exhibit a 0.272 G1 ballistic coefficient. That equals a flat trajectory and supersonic velocities past 450 yards!
This round’s open tip bullet is not analogous to a jacketed hollow point and will not expand after connecting with a fleshy target. The open tip is only built for reliable accuracy, which it serves up courtesy of its concentric copper jacket, flat base and form-fitted lead core.
What’s the story behind these rounds’ discolored brass cases? Are they reloaded? Not at all! These tough cases are heat-treated, and Winchester simply saved a step by forgoing polishing them for cosmetic purposes. This brand new American-made .30 cal ammo is Boxer-primed, non-corrosive and reloadable, and it’s all you need for target shooting and maybe a little varmint hunting if you can locate the requisite varmints!
