Freddy Mercury sang “You’ll make a supersonic man out of me.” But Winchester is going in the opposite direction, which is why they loaded this 300 AAC Blackout ammunition to a subsonic muzzle velocity. That’s going to give you a relatively steep shot trajectory, to be sure, but it’s also going to make much less noise while you’re target shooting!

The reason behind this round’s low and slow muzzle velocity is its heavy bullet. The 300 BLK round’s normal chamber pressure just can’t push its 200 grain bullet faster than 1,060 fps, which is 65 fps short of breaking the sound barrier.

This ammo isn’t just good for suppressed firearms because its report is softer. The open tip bullet features a fully jacketed base, which will prevent the heat of burning propellant from depositing lead residue inside your suppressor. Instead of terminal expansion, the open tip’s nose cavity provides Winchester with a way of injecting molten lead into the bullet’s jacket. A form-fitted core is a balanced core!
