And a case of Fiocchi’s Field Dynamics ammunition, too! This 30-30 round sports a nice, heavy, deep-penetrating 170 grain flat soft point projectile. The bullet’s flat nose profile makes it safe for a lever gun’s magazine. It also inflicts a pretty wide entry wound. It also makes the bullet’s frontal profile relatively high-drag, but that’s par for the course for the 30-30. Once the bullet hits its advertised 2,200 fps muzzle velocity, its 0.189 G1 ballistic coefficient will cause its trajectory to 200 yards to peak at approximately 4.86”.

The bullet is actually the Hornady InterLock, which features a jacket that is embedded into its core at two separate points to promote deeper, deadlier penetration. The InterLock’s jacket is additionally tapered and strategically weakened by an array of symmetrical inner grooves. Those features promote wider-diameter expansion, even at long range.
