Federal joined forces with Henry Repeating Arms while designing this ammo. That’s why its chamfered nickel-plated brass cases play along so well with all makes and models of lever guns, and why its bullets are designed for better terminal performance out of lever platforms as well.
This cartridge’s 150 grain bullet is two important things: bonded, and a soft point. Its fused-together jacket and core resist splintering apart during impact, which helps the bullet score a deeper wound into the quarry. The lead tip squashes the whole bullet flat to deliver best-in-class expansion, quickly.
Federal reports this round’s G1 ballistic coefficient at 0.268. Once the bullet passes a 100-yard zero, it ought to have dropped -6.5” at 200 yards. Striking energy at 200 yards is 1,085 ft lbs, so no deer is safe at that distance.
