The real star of the ELD-X show is the Heat Shield tip. It is made of polymer that will not deform while it is roasted by aerodynamic friction, thus assuring that the bullet presents a perfectly streamlined nose toward its target. Hornady’s outstandingly concentric AMP jacket, secant ogive profile and boat tail also contribute to the 90 grain bullet’s abnormally high 0.409 G1 ballistic coefficient. A 300-yard trajectory that rises no higher than 4.35” (assuming 1.5” sight height). Over 1,000 ft lbs striking energy within 413 yards!
The ELD-X’s InterLock ring keeps its jacket tightly attached to its core during and after impact, so you can count on inflicting the deep wound that fells a buck pronto. Hornady promises over 50% weight retention at any point within 400 yards! And unlike the ELD, the ELD-X is designed to deliver full terminal expansion, even at the 243’s lower effective velocities.
