brass. Each round fires a 110-grain full metal jacket bullet at a muzzle
velocity of 2549 fps and delivers 1587 foot-pounds of energy at the muzzle.
Sellier & Bellot is one of the world’s oldest manufacturing
companies and one of the world’s foremost ammunition makers. Originally led by
French businessmen Louis Sellier and Jean Bellot, the company spent much of its
early history from 1825 to 1870 filling contracts for percussion caps from the
Austrian Empire. In 1870 the company began producing ammunition in earnest and
quickly ramped up annual production to over 10 million cartridges by the end of
the decade. After World War I and the fall of Austria-Hungary, the company
turned to serving the new Czechoslovak military and police forces and landed
export contracts in Asia and South America. In 1936, Sellier moved from its
original facility in Prague to Vlasim, where it remains today.
After a period of control by the post-WWII Soviet-backed
authorities, the company once again became a private enterprise in 1992. Today,
Sellier exports about 70% of its production to over 70 countries worldwide, a
testament to the competitive quality of its products.
