According to the FBI test protocol, a bullet penetration depth of 14 to 16 inches is ideal for self-defense. This 45 ACP cartridge from Federal’s Hydra-Shok Deep line of ammunition consistently penetrates to 15 inches in bare ballistic gel, so it passes that criterion of the test perfectly.
Penetration alone, of course, is inadequate. That’s why this round features Federal’s 210 grain Hydra-Shok, a jacketed hollow point with a strong center post positioned in the center of its nose cavity. That post along with the Hydra-Shok’s deeply notched jacket ensures highly uniform expansion, so you can be certain each shot will produce just as cavernous a wound channel as the last.
This round boasts Federal’s own specially formulated propellant, dependable Boxer primer, and brass shell casing that is drawn to exacting tolerances. The casing wears a layer of corrosion resistant nickel, which also serves to optimize functionality in a semi-automatic weapon.
