You’re not against the idea of a cartridge that was designed during the 20th century. You’re just a traditionalist, who only needs his 45-70 Government rifle when he wants to bag a buck or ruin a hog’s whole week. For you, we have Fiocchi Field Dynamics – a straightforward approach to hunting!

This round’s hollow point flat nose bullet looks just like the kind of semi-jacketed hollow point you’d find on a revolver load. The bullet has enough copper-alloy jacket to slow down barrel fouling and ensure effectively deep penetration. But that jacket does not restrict the rim of the lead core’s hollow point nose cavity, which enables wider-diameter expansion after lower-velocity impact.

The 300 grain bullet’s 0.185 ballistic coefficient is partly because of its 1,900 fps muzzle velocity, and partly because of its high-drag flat nose profile. Of course, we’re really just describing the intrinsic limitations of the 45-70 at this point. A bullet has to have that nose profile if it’s going to safely sit in a lever gun’s magazine, after all.

This is brass-cased ammo, made in Missouri and super easy to reload – one of the 45-70’s nicer advantages!
