This cartridge’s bullet is nickel-plated, which has no appreciable effect on its ballistic or terminal performance. At 145 grains the projectile is able to clear a barrel at 1,290 fps, at which rate it will reach a close-range target with well over 500 ft lbs of kinetic energy. That is ample for defensive purposes – a testament to the 357 Mag’s innate power.
The jacketed hollow point doesn’t contain any steel, either, which clears it for target practice at all commercial ranges. Should the JHP encounter soft tissue, its heavier weight will carry it deeply inside while its nose cavity and notched jacket deliver extremely effectual terminal expansion.
This noncorrosive Boxer-primed ammo doesn’t just offer the power to defend. It also offers the opportunity to handload if you hang on to its factory fresh brass cases.
