The 180gr soft point bullet was engineered with one purpose in mind, rapid and violent expansion. Upon impact and formation of the terminal cavity, the exposed lead core is compressed between both the forward target and rear face of the copper jacket, creating a violent expansion up to twice the diameter of the original round.
At an external velocity of 2,542 feet per second, this creates a fatal crushing injury throughout the terminal cavity that makes for a quick, but humane kill.
