This 308 Win cartridge from Hornady’s Superformance line of ammunition sports a 150 grain Super Shock Tip (SST) projectile. Designed to deliver great shock while expanding quickly and reliably over a range of velocities, the SST bullet features a polymer tip which both streamlines it shape and initiates expansion when it is driven like a wedge into its core upon impact. This bullet’s secant ogive profile further contributes to its excellent aerodynamics, and its boat tail design improves its ballistic coefficient, increases its accuracy, and grants it some resistance against the harmful effects of cross winds. The SST further features a mid-body cannelure as well as Hornady’s InterLock ring to lock its core and jacket together to ensure great weight retention for deep penetration.
This round’s bullet’s devastating terminal performance makes it a reliable go-to for hunting a variety of medium to large game. You may enjoy its Boxer primed factory fresh brass casing at a reloading bench after your hunt as well.
