This 30-06 Springfield cartridge features a 180 grain SST (Super Shock Tip), a versatile projectile for hunting several species of four-legged game. The SST flies fast and true, with a flat trajectory it gets from its streamlined secant ogive profile, ballistically efficient boat tail base, and sharp, aerodynamic polymer tip. When the SST makes contact with its target, its great impact energy forces that polymer tip inward to commence rapid, debilitating expansion. The SST keeps itself together during penetration with its InterLock ring that mechanically binds its core and jacket together, as well as its mid-body cannelure. As the result, it boasts the weight retention requisite for deep penetration to where the vital organs are stored.
Fiocchi’s SAAMI spec round features a non-corrosive Boxer primer, consistent charge of propellant that is formulated to burn without coating the interior of a rifle with corrosive residues, and a new production brass casing that cycles efficiently and which may be reloaded multiple times.
