PMC loads this cartridge with a heavy 77 grain bullet, which provides the heightened resistance to wind deflection that successful long-range shooting demands. The open tip match bullet is nothing less than a Sierra MatchKing, which features the peak jacket concentricity, rotationally stable lead core, and ultra-sleek jacket that all promote pinpoint precision. Once the bullet has sped clear of a 20” barrel’s muzzle at a rate of 2,790 fps, it overcomes air resistance effectively enough to manifest a 0.372 G1 ballistic coefficient. That translates to supersonic performance until just beyond 900 yards.
The OTM is often mistaken for a jacketed hollow point. But make no mistake: The OTM will not mushroom outward upon penetrating soft tissue, which makes its terminal ballistics suboptimal for hunting medium game.
