Federal’s HST ammunition was designed for use by law enforcement professionals, and indeed was available exclusively to them for some time. This round’s 200 grain projectile wears a cannelure that tightly binds its core and jacket together. It is able to hold on to a fantastic percentage of its weight because of it, even if it has to pierce denim, sheetrock, or one of a variety of other barriers. The bullet still reliably expands to the shape of a six-pointed star after having passed through a barrier thanks to its specially engineered nose cavity and the skives in its jacket.
