Wolf is typically the brand shooters turn to when they’re looking to save serious money. That’s because Wolf ammo typically comes from Russia, and has the steel cases and Berdan primers to prove it. But Wolf’s Gold label 5.56×45 ammo is made in Taiwan, and it looks more like what you’d expect from an American manufacturer!

For starters, this round’s 55 grain FMJ bullet is jacketed entirely in copper. There’s nothing magnetic about it, so indoor ranges that ban steel will take no issue with Wolf Gold. This round offers conventional ballistics for its caliber, making it a versatile choice for lighthearted plinking and serious training sessions alike.

Wolf Gold ammo is also exclusively brass cased. With brass you’re going to get a lot less fouling of the action, as well as the option to handload that steel would not have given you. This round’s non-corrosive primer is a Boxer, something handloaders will appreciate but which really shouldn’t matter to the shooter who leaves his shells on the ground.

This 5.56×45 cartridge has a 3,250 fps muzzle velocity and 1,290 ft lbs muzzle energy.
