This is an M193 cartridge – XM193, technically, because it was manufactured specifically for the civilian market. That means it launches a 55 grain bullet at a muzzle velocity of 3,240 fps, which is the gold standard for AR-15s in terms of ballistic performance. It’s a simple enough bullet, with a jacket that hardens it and a boat tail that makes it more aerodynamic. We recommend this type of bullet for range training, although it’s also a suitable option for self defense.
This ammo was loaded for Federal at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. That means it has military-grade primers, propellant and brass. The brass cases are brand new, with visible annealing marks because they were treated for superior durability at the factory.
