There are plenty of advantages to firing high-velocity 22 LR ammo. But Browning’s PRO22 line of ammunition takes things in a whole different direction! This cartridge’s 40 grain bullet sits above a weaker-than-average propellant charge, so it can only reach a muzzle velocity of 1,085 fps.
Why load this round to 40 fps slower than the speed of sound? Because that way the lead round nose bullet’s velocity is incapable of dropping from supersonic to subsonic – a transition which forces the bullet to lose stability and become significantly less accurate as the result. And since this ammo can’t break the sound barrier, it’s also poised to make your target session noticeably quieter!
This precision target and competition ammo also features target crimps on its brass case heads. They make certain that each bullet aligns with the barrel’s rifling in a virtually identical fashion, which further ensures that each shot’s trajectory will look just like the last.
