This cartridge’s 178 grain ELD-X features a boat tail and secant ogive profile that all but eliminate in-flight drag. Its Heat Shield polymer tip is immune to aerodynamic heating, which ensures that it remains sleek and sharp as it exits the barrel at a velocity of 2,750 fps (24” test barrel). The 0.552 G1/0.278 G7 projectile only drops to -7.7” at 300 yards after reaching its 200-yard zero (1.5” sight height).

The ELD-X includes Hornady’s InterLock ring, which secures up to 60% weight retention following impact within a range of 400 yards. At farther distances, the Heat Shield tip drives inward to trigger violent terminal expansion accompanied by up to 90% weight retention.
