Hornady American Whitetail series ammunition is engineered for taking down a certain species of quadruped, although Hornady’s 180 grain .30 cal InterLock bullet is more than capable of dropping hogs, sheep and elk like they’re algebra class. As a soft point, the InterLock features an exposed lead tip that catalyzes terminal expansion accompanied by paralyzing energy transfer. Its jacket’s upper section is thin and further weakened by an array of interior grooves – both features which promote wider, deadlier expansion at all velocities.

The InterLock’s eponymous InterLock ring keeps its lead core and copper jacket from separating during high-velocity penetration. Its cannelure, which also embeds its jacket into its core, serves the same purpose. As a result the InterLock excels at conserving the momentum it needs in order to stab a deep hole into its target. With good marksmanship, you’ll have everything you need to write a line clean through your quarry’s heart.

Hornady’s highest-quality powder, case and primer give the InterLock the performance it needs to lord over all hunting grounds. This round’s 2,700 fps muzzle velocity was recorded with a 24” barrel; its 0.452 G1 ballistic coefficient denotes supersonic velocity until approximately 1,050 yards.
